Installation on other platforms

For installation in outside laboratories, tar files are accessible by anonymous ftp on cmsdoc.cern.ch. One logs in as anonymous using the internet address as password. In the subdirectory cmsoft one finds a README file for instructions and installation tar files. The procedure to ftp these files is as follows:

 
		 ftp cmsdoc.cern.ch

		 Name: anonymous

		 Password: user@node (your internet address)

		 ftp   cd cmsoft

		 ftp   binary

		 ftp   get filename

There are the following kind of tar files to be transferred:

 
		 cmsXXX_src.tar.gz                        		 CMSIM source files

		 cmsXXX_lib_system.tar.gz          		 compiled libraries

		 cmsim_util_system.tar.gz          		 utilities

		 cmsim_cmdb.tar.gz                        		 CMSIM data base files

where system is one of the following: sun4m_54, hp_ux102, sgi_53, rs_aix41 and alpha_osf32. For installation follow the instructions in the README file.
