The CMS simulation package CMSIM is an application of the [1] detector description and simulation tool. Apart from simulation CMSIM includes also codes for reconstruction and analysis. is used to describe the detector geometry and materials. Also the particle transport and secondary interactions in the detector are simulated by . Simulation and reconstruction results are stored in GEANT/CMSIM data structures in the form of ZEBRA banks. Interface routines similar to GS- and GF-routines in are provided for users to access data structures without knowledge of the ZEBRA memory management system. In this document we will pay mainly attention to simulation in ``Global'' context but the aim is to create a framework which includes also requirements for ``FAST'' and ``MIXTURE'' level simulations.
This manual is written with LaTeX and it is maintained by CVS (see below). The basic CVS sources of the manual are kept in the following two directories:
/afs/cern.ch/cms/cmsim/repository/manual/tex (LaTeX files)The 'checked-out' source files for users to copy and possibly make their own versions are available in the directory /afs/cern.ch/cms/cmsim/manual. There are and versions of the manual in cmsdoc pages accessible directly by http://cmsdoc.cern.ch/swsi.html or via the links software/afs/cern.ch/cms/cmsim/repository/manual/figures (eps files)
