Comments on CSC Support Stand for the CERN Test Beam 1998 D. Eartly, Fermilab 16 Feburary, 1998 CMS EMU Safety After a local review,we have established the following safety requirements on the support structure TEMU-08000: (1) Its use is specified as a static support structure and NOT as a transport cart (2) It will be assembled and checked at Fermilab, then disassembled and shipped to CERN (3) A responsible party (for reassembly at CERN) will understand the assembly/disassembly at FNAL and will quality assure the reconstruction at CERN. (4) The test CSC (P2) will be shipped separately with lifting rings on the corner extrusions. (5) The test CSC (P2) is to be rigged using lifting slings/spreader bar attached/blanced to the lifting rings on the CSC(P2). (6) The empty suppport frame TEMU-08000 is to be rigged into the test beam/setup. (7) The CSC(P2) is to be installed with a crane onto the empty support frame in a horizontal position. ANY manipulation of the cart in the test beam should be done with the CSC in the lowest vertical position. (8) To move the CSC to the high radiation test facility, the CSC (P2) must be REMOVED from the stand and the CSC and stand are transported separately, then reassembled at the facility.
