Airfare

America Trans Air (800-435-9282) and Frontier Air (1-800-432-1359) have several daily non-stop flights from Midway Airport to Los Angeles. They are usually a good deal and do NOT require a Saturday-night stayover. Reno Air (1-800-736-6247) has a similar policy with non-stops from O'Hare. Right now (12/98) ATA is currently $213 r.t., non-stop, without a Sat. stayover!

Accommodations:

We could not "block out" all rooms, but there is still plenty of space at the following hotels if you book now. Please reserve early.

We usually stay at the "modest", but conveniently located Claremont Hotel (1044 Tiverton Avenue, 310-208-5957). Rooms are only $39.50/night (single) or $50/night (double or twin). Be sure to reserve your room early and to mention "Physics".

For nicer accommodations you could stay at the UCLA Guest House (330 Circle Drive East, 310-825-2923) Rooms are $90/night. Mention "UCLA Physics Dept."

If the Claremont is full, try next door at the Royal Palace Westwood (1052 Tiverton Av., 310-208-6677). Their rooms are $66/night (single) and $72/night (double). Mention "UCLA Physics Dept."

For the well heeled, rooms were reserved at the Double Tree Hotel--Westwood. There is a shuttle to UCLA or it is a 20 minute walk. Rooms are $102/night! Mention "UCLA Physics". phone: 310-475-8711.

Directions:

For an overview, see the area map. We also have a specific campus map. On that map, the Faculty Center, where we will be holding the workshop, is 480 Circle Drive East (Building 40).
The Claremont Hotel and Ramada Inn are located on Tiverton Avenue near Lindbrook Avenue.
The Physics Dept. is located in Knudsen hall, which is building 39.
The UCLA Guest House is Building 10.

You will not need a car while you are here. A taxi will cost about $30 each way. If you double up or more, that is the cheapest and easiest way to get here. It only a 5-10 minute walk from the Claremont Hotel or Ramada Inn to the Faculty Center.

If you want to give instructions to the cab driver, or if you are driving here from Fermilab, then check out visitors' information.

Registration

Please fax THIS FORM to let us know you are coming so we have a head count.

We will ask for $100 per person. This goes entirely for three continental breakfasts, three lunches, three afternoon coffees and two dinners. Please pay in cash or by a check to "The Regents of the University of California" on the first morning of the workshop.
