RASNIK: |

UCLA is building a
relative alignment monitor called RASNIK ("Relative Alignment System
of NIKhef") for the CDF tracking detectors. This is an inexpensive system
that was invented by NIKHEF in Amsterdam. It is an optical device, but
does not use lasers, only an infrared light-source, a mask, convex lens
and CCD camera, as shown on the right.

We have chosen to
use Hamamatsu R5900 16-Channel photomultiplier tubes based on their excellent
performance characteristics. In excess of five-hundred tubes will have
to be tested before being shipped to the CDF experiment at Fermilab, and
we have a number of requirements that each tube must meet.

We are responsible for maintaining, calibrating, etc., the
Plug Shower Maximum. |

Trigger
Electronics |

UCLA is building electronics boards
for the CDF Level 2 Trigger. We are designing and building the interface
boards for the Track Triggers, including the displaced vertex trigger and
the track extrapolator. |

"TRIGMON
and XMON" |
|
| |
UCLA is developing the online monitoring system for
the Run 2 trigger at CDF. We monitor the performance of the trigger
online using TrigMon, and measure the trigger rates using XMon.
These
tools will allow real-time debugging of the trigger hardware during
Run 2,
and online measurements of trigger rates and efficiencies.

Working Group |

UCLA is co-responsible for determining the content of the "trigger
tables". These decisions impact the physics heavily since we can only trigger
on 50 events/second from the 8 million collisions per second. The Trigger
Working Group takes input from all the collaboration's physics groups.
