In the CDF experiment at Fermilab, protons and antiprotons collide with
center-of-mass energy 1.8 TeV. The CDF experiment has taken data
with ever- increasing flux since 1985. This experiment found the long sought-after
top quark which has a mass of about 175 GeV. The CDF detector is
being heavily upgraded for high luminosity operation starting in 2001. |

In the CMS experiment being prepared
for future use at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) at CERN, protons will
collide with protons at center-of-mass energy 14 TeV. A rich physics program
includes the likely discovery of the Higgs particle, and a good shot at
the discovery of Supersymmetry. |
